About the Internship
The Strength & Conditioning Internship at Performance Barn Training is designed to identify, develop, and evaluate emerging coaching talent. Interns work directly with our staff coaches and facility leadership, gaining hands-on experience in strength training instruction, athlete management, session design, and facility operations.
This role is a paid, part-time internship that also serves as a recruiting pipeline—top-performing interns will be considered for long-term coaching positions. In addition, outstanding interns may earn full sponsorship for nationally recognized certifications (e.g., CSCS, USAW, CPT) at the completion of the program.
Responsibilities
- Assist coaches in group training sessions, youth athletic development, and adult S&C programs
- Learn and apply Performance Barn coaching systems, training philosophies, and safety standards
- Help with warm-ups, movement prep, demonstrations, and equipment set-up
- Track athlete progress and support data collection where applicable
- Contribute to facility cleanliness, equipment management, and member experience
- Engage in weekly mentorship sessions focused on coaching development
Minimum Requirements
- Actively pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Sports Performance, or a related field
- Athletic background (high school or collegiate preferred)
- Strong interest in becoming a strength coach or performance specialist
- Hardworking, reliable, and highly coachable
- Professional communication and willingness to work with all age groups
